3 Days In Chantaburi

A few weeks ago, we had to go to Cbantaburi for work.  I thought I would share with you some of the beautiful sites we saw.

We left early in the morning to start our 7 hour journey. We made a few stops along the way. The first stop we made was at a Temple where Thai people travel from far to go and make a wish there. I did not go into the area where they make the wish at it was quite crowded.   They have a belief that once their wish has come true they will come back and bring 100 boiled eggs to say thank you. We did manage to walk around and see the grounds.

We then left from here and drove to our lunch destination which was about another hour or so drive from the Temple. We sat at a table along the water. and had a lovely seafood lunch.
Once we left from there we stopped off at the Mangrove Forest, This place is actually something special, As you come into the first section it looks like you are standing above the trees. These trees are actually still quite small. It is a good place to take photos.  It has a boarded walkway which goes on for about 5 kilometers, needless to say We didn't make the whole 5 kilometers (I'm not the fittest person on the planet.) We walked about 2.5 kilometers and came out by the ocean, the boarded walkway actually goes into the ocean.  Really very pretty.  I don't know about other people, but  for me there is something very calming about the ocean, and it makes me reflect about a lot of things about life in general.  Quite ironic considering when living back in South Africa I hated the beach for swimming but have always enjoyed walking on the beach.

We left from here and made our way to our hotel for the night.  The hotel was in the city of Chantaburi. This city is quite a small city, but rather quaint and nice.  The hotel we stayed in was rather cute, each room had a different theme.  The one we stayed in was purple and had quite a vintage/honeymoon feel.  Really a lovely place. When you come down the stairs there is a dining area.  They have a restaurant across the road which features a band every night.

The next day we went to our meeting that we had to attend.  After the meeting we asked to stop at the nearest service station to change into our shorts! We made our way down to the ocean! Before we got there we stopped at a lookout point.  It was really a stunning place.  We managed to get some nice photos taken there too.

We then carried on to our destination which was a lovely resort on the beach.  I can really say that I liked this place, they had hammocks, tables and swings right on the beach.  Seemingly people who don't necessarily spend the night there come and just enjoy the day there.  The resort also has a swimming pool and breakfast facilities.

So, after check-in, my mom and I decided that we were going to take full advantage of this beach and headed out for our walk on the beach.  All I can say is wow.  This seems to be a fishing community that lives there, you don't really see many foreign faces there.  As you walk along the beach you can see tiny crabs scurrying back to their little holes, you see people crab fishing, you see some small boats floating in the water.  As you get further along you see more resorts and people on the beach, swimming, laughing and really just enjoying themselves.  It was really such a calming experience.  When I am at the beach, I think about how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful world.  It also reminds me of my father who has passed.  He loved the beach and always took us to walk on the beach and have ice cream when we were kids...

Here are some of the pictures we took on the beach that evening and the next day.  We left the next day after breakfast and returned home.
